GoGeomatics Ottawa April Social

Please join GoGeomatics Canada for our April Social! You will meet professionals, entrepreneurs, professors, recruiters, and students at this event. We love to talk GIS, remote sensing, and surveying. This month's Social will take place Friday, April 25th (7 PM) at the James Street Pub (http://www.heartandcrown.ca/james.aspx) at 390 Bank Street. Socials are always fun and free. So stop by for some free food, a pint, and a chat. Feel free to bring friends and colleagues.

This month, Corrina Vester and Ann Martin from the Canadian Geomatics Community Round Table (http://cgcrt.ca/) will be speaking to our group about the national initiative and what we can do to help the geomatics community in Canada.

The CGCRT is an informal gathering of Canadian geomatics stakeholders. Representatives of organizations spanning the geomatics sector have participated at several meetings hosted by the GeoConnections Program of Natural Resources Canada. Participants have included federal and provincial/territorial governments, private sector companies, non-governmental organizations, professional organizations and associations, and geospatial data and service consumers. The Round Table provides a forum for discussion of issues and concerns that affect professional practice and activities in the Canadian geomatics sector – and to find ways in which to collaborate in resolving some of those issues.

This presentation will provide information on the Canadian Geomatics Community Round Table, insight into its goals and how realizing those goals will benefit the geomatics community in Canada. It will describe the process followed to reach agreement on developing a Pan-Canadian Geomatics Strategy. It will describe the perspectives - the strategic dimensions, which were examined to build the first iteration of the Strategy document.
