Sessions:
Hibernate - in a Oracle DBA perspective by Lasse Jenssen and Vidar Eidissen"
We have all heard Oracle Gurus state "You should not use Hibernate". Let's take of the DBA glasses for a while, and see what goes on behind the scenes. In this presentation we'll show some Java code using Hibernate, and another version using PLSQL. Who is the winner?
An awesome DEV-environment at Espresso House! Docker,Bash,VIM,TMUX,Firefox,Linux Journal,Oracle Database 18.4,APEX 19.1 and ORDS 18.4" by Bjarte Brandt
Do you sometimes need an Oracle Database sandbox environment or even an Oracle Application Express (APEX) sandbox environment on your laptop...fast!?
If you do,this session is for you!
In this session we will demo how to create a container environment for Oracle Application Express (APEX).
In order to create an APEX environment we first need an Oracle Database. Why not run the latest version?
We will follow a streamlined process to create a Oracle Database Express Edition (XE), install APEX and Oracle
REST Data Services (ORDS). Everything will be managed utilizing docker-compose.
Effective PL/SQL Code Insight With PL/Scope – or yet another reason to put code in the database by Vidar Eidissen, Eritec
If you have unknown or spaghetti PL/SQL-code, this one's for you!
Coming into a GDPR-project where you're supposed to audit, modify and change code in a totally unknown system with approx. 1.000.000 lines of code programmed in PL/SQL, might seem daunting. However, with active use of PL/Scope, Oracles identifier and statement-tracking tool, we could navigate and identify code that needed to be changed rather easily. In this session we'll go through what information is collected by PL/Scope and how it can be utilised using practical examples like:Â
- From where is this table accessed or modified?
- From where is this particular function used?
- Identifying dead and possibly dead code
- From where is this bad performing query coming?
We'll also touch upon the importance of a good logging framework like logger and see the effects of it.
Build of Oracle Linux on different platforms: uniform environments from laptop to cloud by Knut Karevoll, Xait
An important part of modern software development is to be able to develop and test in a production similar environment. However not everyone can afford a full production system for their development and one for testing. How do you make sure the platforms you use are as similar as possible?
Knut Karevoll have over ten years of experience as a Linux systems administrator and have worked with Oracle Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Cloud for the past years. He is now working at Xait and comes from Stavanger to share his experience with us."
