Dr. Lee will be speaking at DataScience.com headquarters in LA, discussing how Challenge (bigdatahubs.io) technology, including nsf.datascience.com, can be used through government, industry, academic collaborations to serve disaster response, relief, and prediction. Regional participants in the challenge will join as speakers and additional presenters.

Dave Goodsmith (https://www.datascience.com/blog/author/dave-goodsmith) and other members of the digital mapping community will work with participants who have brought their own laptops to contribute to digital mapathon efforts through the Humanitarian Open Street Map Team (http://tasks.hotosm.org/?sort_by=priority&direction=asc&search=hurricane) and Open Street Maps. Goodsmith, Managing Data Scientist at DataScience.com, will provide an overview of the power of crowd sourced mapping as well as the critical government trust earned by projects like OSM by governments and the red cross -- a requirement for transforming remote digital expertise into direct aid.
