Let’s get down with the down ballot offices in the California Primary.

Details

The March 3 Primary is only a few weeks away and Mail-in voting will start about 30 days before the election. Join our Meetup Thursday, January 23 at 7pm for a forum with some of the candidates for important offices we don’t hear much about.

There is no shortage of candidate forums and debates especially for the top of the ballot. Presidential Debates There is a lot of attention being paid to the Democratic Presidential debates, which is a good thing except that it takes away attention from local offices that are critical to us.

Note that this meeting is not at our usual “First Tuesday” and will serve as our February meetup

Our goal is to keep California Progressive and we picked the offices where we can help meet that mandate. The offices we will feature are the result of a discussion we had at our “First Tuesday” meetup in December. Additionally Progressive Democrats of America - National has deemed the Congressional District 50 race as critical, especially since Duncan Hunter Jr. Is gone and Darrell Issa could be his replacement.

We also have a Kreepy candidate for Judge who is anti-women, anti-welfare, anti-LGBT, and Pro-Trump. We need to do what we can to avoid a replay of the Gary Kreep race for judge a few years ago.

If you have been on the PDA/PDA-CA email list for over 30 days before the meetup (12/23/2019) you can vote for possible endorsements for these offices.

Where there is only one Progressive candidate running, we will vote as a block on a “Consent Calendar.” The rest we will vote on with ballots. All candidates have been sent a questionnaire and asked to appear in person rather than sending a surrogate. We have recommended that if they can’t attend that they send us a 3-5 minute video.
