Belfast Hills from Ligoniel Dams
Details
We will walk through the Ligoniel Dams, across to Glencairn before climbing up to the communication mast between Black Mountain and Divis Mountain. From there we descend to the cafe (currently closed for renovations) where there are outdoor picnic tables and temporary toilets.
After lunch we hike the Ridge walk before returning to the communication mast and descending to Glencairn and Ligoniel. In good conditions there are excellent views from the Belfast Hills. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead.
Level: Amber
This will be circular, lasts for 4 to 5 hours, is 11 miles long and includes 400 metres of ascent. The walk returns us to the corner of Thornberry Road and Thornberry Mews.
Meeting Point:
The walk will start at 11.00am, by the Ligoniel Dams sign at the corner of Thornberry Road and Thornberry Mews in Ligoniel in North Belfast. Please try to be a this point at least 10 minutes before it starts.

Public Transport:
This walk is accessible by public transport. Take the 10.30am 11f Metro service from Chichester Street bus stop (between Arthur Street and Calendar Street) and get off at 10.47am at "Wolf Hill Centre". From there make the 7 minute walk up the Ligoniel Road, turn left into Mill Avenue and onto Thornberry Avenue until you see the sign for Ligoniel Dams.
The walk leader is Michael. Michael will be using the bus from Chichester Street at 10.30am.
