Join Out & Active NI for a challenging and rewarding winter hike as we take on Slieve Bearnagh, one of the most beautiful and dramatic peaks in the Mourne Mountains. This is a serious mountain hike designed for experienced hikers with a strong level of fitness who are comfortable on steep, exposed, and uneven terrain.
The route offers an unforgettable journey through rugged mountain scenery, with the chance to fully appreciate the wild beauty of the Mournes. From the summit of Slieve Bearnagh, we will hopefully be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views.
The hike covers over 9 km and will take approximately 5 hours, including rest stops. Expect steep ascents, rough ground, and sections of light scrambling, all of which add to the challenge and sense of achievement.
After the hike, those who wish can enjoy a well-earned warm drink at the Meelmore Lodge café.
