Johanniskreuz – Romantische Waldweihnacht

For the past 20 years, the Haus der Nachhaltigkeit has welcomed visitors to the Romantic Forest Christmas Market in Johanniskreuz—a unique event celebrated for its enchanting forest setting, atmospheric ambiance, and strong emphasis on sustainability and regional craftsmanship. To mark the 20th anniversary, guests can look forward to a special commemorative item: a newly designed edition of the popular ceramic mug, created exclusively for this milestone year.

There is something truly magical about experiencing Christmas in the heart of the forest. On the third weekend of Advent—December 13–14, 2025—the Palatinate Forest offers this atmosphere at its finest. At the Haus der Nachhaltigkeit, more than 60 stalls present a diverse array of regional delicacies, sweet and savory treats, and handcrafted products from the Biosphärenreservat Pfälzerwald–Nordvogesen. The Christmas tree is freshly cut, and the annual venison roast is sourced directly from local woodlands. Musical performances by brass ensembles and alphorn players enhance the festive mood. In the evenings, torches and open fires illuminate the market with a romantic glow, and fire performers offer captivating entertainment. And of course, no Advent market would be complete without Glühwein—here served as organic Glühwein in rustic Palatinate miniature glasses.
