Skagit Nature Trail Loop

Details
Join us (the Mt Baker Group of the Sierra Club) on this leisurely paced, easy hike (2.1 mile loop, 59 feet elevation gain). This Port of Skagit Nature Trail is in the beautiful Skagit Valley near Burlington Washington. Located near the Skagit Regional Airport, this gravel trail loops through woods, along runways and past Heritage Flight Museum and other commercial businesses that surround the airfield. A porta potty is available at the parking area, which is located at the intersection of Ovenell Rd and Higgins Airport Way. We will meet at 10:00am at the trailhead adjacent to the parking area. Following the walk, there is time to get lunch, followed by an optional afternoon social outing for a tour of the nearby Heritage Flight Museum, which is listed as a separate event for rsvp.
Directions: From Bellingham, take I-5 South to Exit 230 towards WA 20/Burlington/Anacortes. Turn left onto State Rte 20 W/WA 20 W/Avon Cutoff. Turn right onto Higgins Airport Way, then left onto Ovenell Rd, then immediate right into the parking lot.
Your Health: No vaccine or tests are required for this outing. You may be walking with people who are vaccinated and unvaccinated. You are welcome to wear a mask if it makes you comfortable. Please stay home if you are sick or experiencing any COVID symptoms.
