On October 12, at 4:00 pm, Mt. Baker Group/Sierra Club will sponsor a Doctober screening of "Middletown (2025)" at the Pickford Film Center's Pickford Bay theatre at 1318 Bay Street, in Bellingham. This film is also showing at the Pickford on October 23, at 2:40 pm.

Excerpt description from the Pickford's website:
It’s like something out of a fictional indie film--except this is a true story: A teacher known as “Hippie Fred” teaches a class called “Electronic English” to a varied group of students in the 1990s at a high school in Upstate New York. As part of the class, they are encouraged to use school video cameras to document their town. Some make music videos, some film horror shorts—while others blow the lid off a scandal concerning toxic waste being dumped in a local landfill that would come to involve crooked politicians, journalists who looked the other way, the Ford Motor Co., and even a renowned and much-feared Mafia family. This documentary revisits Middletown, the student exposé, and its impact on the high school students, whose intrepid investigations put much of today’s professional journalism to shame.
