Hawksbill Sunset/Sunrise Camp/Hike
Details
This is one of my favorite hikes with awesome views of the Linville Gorge and Mountains, plus we should have a beautiful sunset and sunrise the following morning
We'll go down the old rough rocky road with huge pot holes to Hawksbill, this is about a 3 mile hike and then add 2+ miles going up the gorge for 5 - 6 miles, a easy side of difficult hike by adding an additional hike from Hawksbill to Jonas Ridge and up to Sitting Bear. We could go further to Celestial Point if anyone is interested.
We plan on hiking Friday night, primitive camping at the trailhead and then hiking again Saturday morning- sunrise is expected at 6:22am
We are doing this Friday night because of the difficulty in getting a campsite on the weekends. Tent camping or car camping is fine.
Anyone that can help with firewood would be greatly appreciated we can cook at the campsite as well.
If you have never done this the views are EPIC for both sunrise and sunset.
We meet at the Hawksbill trailhead parking Friday May 29 5:30pm bring your headlamps for hiking in the dark going back down and the following morning going up in the dark.
