Sunday Funday ride through parts of Fairmount Park ending at Wissa Brewing

Details
Time for me to dust off the old racing bike and get back out there after a long hiatus. Expect some whining from me as my toosh is NOT conditioned anymore....lol
We will cover a FUN 16-17 mile ride that will head down West River Drive, over to the Chamounix Equestrian Center and then to the Belmont Plateau for a quick stop to admire the view. From here we will head over to the Wissahickon Bike Trail along the creek next to Lincoln Drive. This will lead us to Forbidden Drive in which we will take to travel to Valley Green Inn. Another planned stop here for about 5 minutes for bathroom break and tissues for my tears. Once we depart we will back track on Forbidden Drive and the Wissahickon trail and head to the Wissahickon Brewing Company for some after ride festivities.
PACE: my best guess is 13-16 range. Not hitting it hard, but not looking to be recruited by the Bikers With Basket cycling team...(just having fun, no offense)
STYLE OF BIKE: This ride has a mix of paved road/sidewalk and gravel/dirt on Forbidden Drive. Personally I am using a Cross Pro bike which looks like a street bike on steroids- basically a street looking bike with hybrid tires that can handle gravel. Feel free to use whatever you are comfortable with. Just beware of gravel if using a road bike with very thin tires.
GEAR REQUIRED/SUGGESTED:
1- Proper attire for weather conditions
2- Helmet strongly suggested. I will not be policing this. You are an adult and can make your own decision.
3- WATER or other source of hydration; food/snacks as needed
4- Electrolytes as desired or needed
5- Sunscreen, bug spray as desired
WEATHER: This is a fair weather event only. Wet conditions will cancel.
PARKING AND MEETING LOCATION: We will meet at the Gustine Recreation Center located at 4868 Ridge Ave (see Meeetup PIN). NOT the tennis center. We will gather on the front lawn next to where the entrance and Ridge Ave meet. As for parking, you can park at Gustine Center or near the brewery where we will end. We will pass the Gustine lot on way to brewery at end of ride. BUT use your judgement in terms of bike security if you are going to brewery. You can either take a chance of leaving bike at car, take bike to brewery or pack bike and take bike and car to brewery lot after the ride.
Post Hike Celebration: We will go to Wissahickon Brewing Company located at 3705 W Schoolhouse Lane after the ride for food/drink and comradery.
GUEST and ATTENDANCE POLICY:
- Unless otherwise posted, all attendees must be members of Outdoor Adventure Friends. This is for communication purposes to ensure that those in attendance understand exactly what they are signing up for.
- Please be courteous and change your rsvp in a timely fashion if you can no longer attend an event. Repeated no shows or a history of signing up and dropping off excessively when there is a waitlist will exclude you from being moved off of future waitlists and special events.
PLEASE NOTE: I cannot respond to calls, texts, emails, messages on meetup, or comments on the event page once we start hiking. Please plan accordingly.
NOTICE: Meetup organizers are not professionally trained. By attending an event you are agreeing that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents, or liabilities incurred while hiking with us.
