A Low and Slow* Beginner Backpack on the AT

Must be a member of the OCSJ to participate.

Join us on this 6 mile beginner backpack loop utilizing the AT and Iris trails in Highpoint Start Park in northern NJ. Staying together as a group, we’ll walk approximately 3 miles each day at the slowest members’ pace (roughly 1-2 mph with frequent stops) over rocky terrain and old forest roads. Overnight stop will be at the Rutherford shelter, which has a water source to filter, privy, bear box, and grassy tenting area.

-Backpackers must provide their own gear and food.
-No pets, please.
