Garrett Family Preserve at Cape Island Creek
Details
The generosity of the Garret Family enabled the Nature Conservancy to protect Cape Island Creek and other Cape May are preserves. The preserve is an ever changing landscape with tides constantly flowing in and out of the salt marshes. The preserve is a haven for migratory songbirds, raptors and pollinators like bumblebees and monarch butterflies. The wildflower meadows are lined by fields and tall trees.
The walk will be on the Songbird, Poets, Artist, and Butterfly Trails. And the walk will be about 4.5 to 5 miles. Lunch will at the picnic pavilion on the Butterfly trail. Most of the walk will be in full sun, bring a hat and sunscreen. It could be wet and muddy, bring dry socks and dry shoes. Bring a snack, water and lunch. And bring insect repellent. There is a port-a-potty in the parking lot of the preserve. Arrive early to sign in.
