Hike at Cedar Bridge Tavern

Details
This is a six mile hike starting at the old Cedar Bridge Tavern. There is a lot of mountain laurel on these trails, with a little luck they'll be in full bloom for our hike. We'll finish up with a short walk through a stand of cedar trees to a serene peninsula jutting into a tributary of the Oswego River.
This historic site consists of 291 acres and a fully restored museum with the oldest "standing bar" in New Jersey. Cedar Bridge is "arguably" the site of the last documented land engagement of the American Revolution. The tavern is now a well-appointed museum with a variety of interesting displays inside.
Pace: moderate to brisk. You should be able to maintain a 3 mph pace, although parts of this hike will be fairly leisurely. The terrain is flat but some of the trails are new and there are some rough sections. We'll take some short breaks along the way. Bring snacks and a drink, and your favorite insect repellant. I'm not sure how buggy it gets here, but my general advice for warm weather is to treat your clothes with permethrin ahead of time. In my experience it is very effective if you follow the directions properly.
OCSJ club members only. Be sure your dues are up-to-date. Arrive early to sign in and hear the safety talk. We want to get started at 10 a.m. sharp. There are bathrooms in the museum.
