Details

An epic 14 mile hike at a moderate to brisk pace. We'll start at Atsion and head south on the yellow trail for about 5.5 miles to the Mullica River campground. There we can sit ourselves on the numerous logs located around the campground, take a long break, admire the river, listen for the sirens, and enjoy lunch.

After lunch we will head north and take one of the connector trails a bit northeast to cross the Batsto River and get to the Lower Forge campground. We'll take another nice break there. From Lower Forge it's about five miles back to Atsion. Beware the lotus eaters.

This hike is for experienced long-distance hikers. It will take us five to six hours to complete. You'll need to bring sunscreen, insect reppellant, lunch, snacks, and plenty to drink. It depends on how hot it is, but I suggest a minimum of 48 ounces of water or sports drink. The trails are easy so hiking boots aren't necessary, low hikers or trail runners should be fine.

Meet at the Atsion office parking area by 9:15 to sign in and hear the safety talk. I will get us moving by 9:30.

Since this is such a long hike and it could be hot, I am reserving the right to remove people from the "going" list if I am not confident about their ability to do this hike.

My cell number, for hike day only, is 609 577-9365.
