Horseshoe Bend Park/Cooley Preserve

Details
Horseshoe Bend Park/Cooley Preserve is a 700 acre park near Frenchtown in Hunterdon County. The park consists of rolling hills and a mixture of open fields and wooded areas. There are also several streams, which can present a bit of a challenge if there's been a lot of rain. Hiking poles and waterproof boots are recommended, especially if it has been wet.
Our route will be approximately 8 miles, and the total net elevation gain is likely to be 700 to 1000 feet. The trail isn't particularly steep but there is quite a bit of up and down over the course of the 8 miles. Hopefully, we will get some decent views of the Delaware River.
Moderate to brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink and we'll stop at some point for lunch. Be sure to take precautions against ticks and other pests. If you need advice on how to do that, leave a message in the comments section.
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to sign in, etc. And give yourself a little extra time to find our meeting spot. Use the map pin or, if you use Waze, search for Horseshoe Bend parking lot, Kingwood, NJ.
We will start the hike on time. OCSJ members only.
