This is a 7.5 mile hike at a brisk pace w/ appr. 1500+' of elevation. We'll start from the parking lot at Pickell Park. It sits behind the Readington Municipal Bldg where there may be restrooms. We take the Blue Connector trail from there across farm fields to get to Cushetunk Preserve. Once we arrive we'll have 500' elevation then the same in descent and then 500' again back up to the top of a ridge that overlooks Round Valley Reservoir. In the spring and summer the trees block the view so after the leaves have fallen perhaps we'll get one. From there we hike along the ridge to the end of the preserve then down the other side of the ridge to the reservoir. When we get to the bottom we'll have lunch either at a campsite or on a rock outcrop so bring something comfy to sit on. After lunch we hike along the reservoir then 500' elevation back up and over the ridge back to the parking lot. Bring water, food, poles (if you're into that), rain gear, and something to sit on.
