Oooooooohhh... Crossley Preserve: Hampton Trail to Wrangle Brook Dam

A Halloween day hike in the 3,000 acre Crossley Preserve. Located in Berkeley Township, Crossley is the largest preserve held by the NJ Natural Lands Trust. It is the home of numerous species of protected plants and wildlife, including pine and corn snakes, and the endangered Pickering's morning glory.
This hike will explore the Northwest territory, which the NJ Conservation Blueprint identifies as a “high and medium-high” priority area, important for fresh water and water resources.
We'll start at the end of Westbrook Drive and head up the Hampton Trail onto part of the NJ State Long Trail and then north to the remote Wrangle Brook Dam. We'll then make our way back through some of Crossley's scenic wetlands.
The pace will be medium to brisk and we'll hike about 6 miles. We might have to improvise a bit due to trail conditions, so please be flexible about the distance and the time it will take.
Limited to 15 OCSJ members. Park near the west end of Westbrook Dr. (see map). This is a residential neighborhood, please be extra considerate about where and how you park. Bring snacks, good cheer, and plenty to drink.
Costumes optional.
Arrive early to sign in and hear the safety talk. The hike will start at 10 a.m.
