Hike Barnegat Trail (~8 miles), lunch at German Butcher

This is a straight out and back hike along the Barnegat Trail.

We will walk/hike at a moderate pace (~3 mph) along the Barnegat Trail from Waretown heading north toward Forked River/Lacey. Trail is flat and used for walking and biking, mostly shaded, with long stretches in the open along route 9.

We will stop for lunch at The German Butcher (https://www.germanbutcher.com) which has an extensive menu including vegetarian options. The outdoor picnic tables should be available for dining. You can purchase lunch at The German Butcher or feel free to bring your own.

Return trip is south along the same trail back to Waretown. Dress for the weather and bring water and a snack, bring lunch if you do not plan on getting takeout from German Butcher. Rain or unsafe weather conditions cancels.

Meet at trail side parking lot across from CVS at the Southwest corner of Wells Mills Rd (Route 537) and Rt 9. Look for gray Subaru Impreza hatchback.
