Pack your patience on this one, it could be a long day. We will be doing 2 short walks, at a moderate pace, about 3 miles an hour. Starting with Bridgeton Zoo, the raceway and Potter's Tavern. To be clear Potter's Tavern is a historical building, not a Pub, a Bar or an Eatery. WE will then drive to Greenwich for a 2 mile walk to the Tea Burners Monument and Gibbons House.
Potter's Tavern, Built in 1770, Matthew not Harry, was the home of the local newspaper, Plain Dealer. Which contained short hand written articles that were anonymous or were written under a pseudonym which openly called for rebellion against the crown.
In Greenwich on December 22, 1774, about40 patriots disguised as Indians took possession of a cargo of tea from the British ship Greyhound and burned it.
The Gibbon House, built in 1730 was the type of architecture that was all the rage in London at the time.
The Zoo walk will be about 4.5 miles.
You will then drive your car about 8 miles to Greenwich. The drive is not covered by club insurance.
The Greenwich walk is about 2 miles.
Potter's Tavern opens for tours at 12 PM
Gibbon House opens for tours at 1 PM
