Pack your patience on this one, it could be a long day. This will be two short walks at a moderate pace. Starting with the Zoo and Bridgeton City park and the raceway and Potter's Tavern. Potter's Tavern is a historical building, not a bar or an eatery. We will then drive to Greenwich for a 2 mile walk to the Tea Burners Monument and Gibbons House.
Potter's Tavern was built in 1770 and was the home the Plain Dealer, a local newspaper. Which contained short hand written articles which openly called for rebellion against the crown.
In Greenwich on December22. 1774, about 40 patriots disguised as Indians took possession of a cargo of tea from the British ship Greyhound and burned it.
The Gibbon House, built in 1730 was the type of architecture that was all the rage in London at the time.
The Zoo walk will be about 4.5 miles.
You will then drive your car about 8 miles to Greenwich. The drive is not covered by club insurance.
The Greenwich walk is about 2 miles.
