Early Spring Hike at Swimming River Reservoir, Thompson Park, Monmouth County.

April doesn't always feel and look like spring, but maybe we'll get a little lucky.

Thompson Park is a 667 acre county park located near Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ. We'll do about 8 miles on the Reservoir Loop Trail, which has many good views of the reservoir.

Our pace will be moderate to brisk (approximately 3 mph). The trail is relatively flat and mostly shaded but there are some open areas. There aren't many rocks but there are a fair number of roots. Be sure to bring enough to drink and we'll either stop for lunch after about 6 miles, or hold out until the end when we reach the pavilion.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so that you can sign in and I can give the safety talk and get us going on time. OCSJ members only.

Park near the visitor center (see map). There are bathrooms there.
