Thursday 10am hike Southern Allaire
Details
Allaire
Let’s do about 6 miles on the trails at Southern Allaire - at a BRISK (3 mph, 20 min per mile) pace - goal is to finish about 6 miles in approx. 2 hours. This hike comprises many marked and unmarked trails in a park that is bordered by the Manasquan River. Easy to get lost here! Please be able to maintain the group’s pace and stay with “the pack”! We will hike down to the river and then up to the ridge and thru the Tiger Woods section. Expect flat to rolling to steep terrain - a few muddy areas. Trails vary from dirt single track to some that allow side-by-side hiking. Plenty of woods, some open areas, stream and river views. Also plenty of flora and fauna, but depends on the weather and season. The trails have a number of areas of uneven terrain and tree roots, so: Hiking boots/shoes are strongly suggested. Poles or traction devices if you think you’ll need them. Things to bring: Water, bug spray, sun protection, layered clothing. We will meet in the larger parking area on Hospital Road. Address is: 2271 Hospital Road, Wall Township, NJ. Please arrive a few to 15 minutes early: To sign in, gear up, use Porto-toilets, meet others. I’ll be next to my White Subaru Crosstrek, with black roof and kayak rack. Hope to see you there!
