In order to introduce folks to the wonderful world of backpacking/camping, the OCSJ is going to run a camping university and gear swap/sale. The university will address what equipment you need, how to setup tents and hammocks, how to start a fire, how/what to eat and how to cook it. A great way to find out if you want to venture out in the wild, and a good way to prepare for the May beginner’s hike. Cost to attend is $0.
Location will be at Pakim Pond Starting at 11am. I will publish the class schedule/times to the folks who sign up. Some nice hiking trails in the area as well, so you can take wander about.
In order to help out new backpackers and to enable veteran campers to get rid of their “Old stuff” we will be hosting a gear sale, starting at 11am. Last year’s sale had a wide variety of gear at bargain prices, including tents, sleeping bags, mats, cooking gear and backpacks.
· Sales are cash only. No checks or credit cards
· Sales will be between the two private parties. The Outdoor Club does not have a financial interest in this sale
· All sales are final. No refunds or returns
· Sale begins at 11am. Items will be marked with pricing on it.
· Haggling is OK, but it must be between the two involved individuals
If folks want to bring their packs and equipment for evaluation, that will be OK too. Kevin is happy to help!
Kevin can take the gear you want to sell in advance, if you wish, and sell it there. Contact him one-on-one. Item must be marked with your name, contact info, and the price you want to sell it at. You may also want to provide a “minimum’ price in private to Kevin that you would be willing to go down to.
Leader is Kevin Drevik (856) 630-2485 or kdrevik@aol.com.
