Franklin Parker Red Trail
Details
This will be an easy to moderate paced 6 mile hike. We will be taking our time since I am sure the snow and some ice will still be on the trail. There is some ups and downs and some possible wet spots to go through and possibly slippery bridges. Hiking sticks might be helpful. We will cross the swinging bridge and a short bushwhack to the sign at the approx. location of the Blue Comet train crash.
We will stop for lunch/snacks at the world famous Adirondack chairs.
We will see how much trouble the beavers are causing with their dam building. There are a couple spots on the approach to one bridge that might have some water on it. If too much water we will adjust the course. Bring extra socks and or plastic trash bags if your boots are not waterproof. Pets are ok but have to be on a leash and at the end of the group.
Bring water, lunch, snacks and bug spray.
Meet at the Chatsworth (Rt 532) entrance. Porta pots at the parking lots or Facilitrees along the trail.
Please arrive by 9:45 to sign in and get yourself together. I leave on time.
