In 1748 Quakers Ann and James Whitall established a 400 acre plantation at Red Bank along the Delaware River.
In 1777 the American revolution interrupted life at Red Bank. Fort Mercer was constructed north of the house and the battle of Red Bank occurred on October 22, 1777.
This is 3.5 to 4 mile walk along the Delaware River and Red Bank Battlefield and through the streets of the area to Rivergate Park and Rivergate boat ramp.
There are bathrooms in the park near the parking lot.
Tours of the Whitall House are from 11am to 3pm
Bring a snack, water, lunch and a hat and sunscreen. There are many benches along the river at the park for lunch.
Arrive 15 minuets early to sign in and use the bathrooms.
