Details

Yes - this is just days away. If this trip does not go due to the short timeframe, another may be planned for mid May (weekend trip or during the week).
Join us for one of the most scenic parts of the Appalachian Trail, and relatively close to home. All levels of backpackers are welcome to join us for a 14 mile weekend hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail in Delaware Water Gap, hiking NJ section 6. We will meet near the end point in Hardwick, NJ, and then drop cars off at the end point, and then shuttle to Delaware Water Gap, PA. We will hike 11 miles on Saturday, including crossing the bridge from PA to NJ, then climb out of DWG, ascending 600 feet, past Sunfish Pond, see the view of Kittatinny Mountain, and stay in a tent site at the Mohican Outdoor Center. (Hikers will need to pay campsite fees (maximum $20 per person). On Sunday morning, we will pass the Catfish Fire Tower, while hiking 3 miles out to the cars.
• What to bring
Typical spring weather hiking equipment, water and food. The weather may be in the mid 40s at night. The forecast may change - currently a small amount of rain is forecast for Saturday day and none for Sunday. Water, food (for purchase), bathrooms and privies are available at MOC.
