~9 miles
~1200' elevation
moderate to brisk pace based on terrain

This is a fun hike with lots of views and very large glacial boulders. We start at the Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area parking lot. We immediately hike up Pyramid Mtn (a daunting 929' above sea level). Great view as if it is clear enough we can see the NYC skyline. We only gain about 300' of elevation here. After that we hike down the other side to Bear Rock and then along Bear Swamp to Whale Head Rock. Then we loop around to Tripod Rock (pictured) where have lunch. After lunch we go back down to the parking lot and then across the street.

This section is where we will get most of our elevation. This will be a different route than last time so the miles and elevation are an estimate but it shouldn't be too far off. We take a slight down and then reach the first climb up to Lake Valhalla Overlook with a great view. From there we hike down to Valhalla Falls which (fingers crossed) will hopefully be flowing. After that we hike around continuing a loop and back up to Turkey Mtn. Lastly we go down the 100 Steps from the Overlook where also there is a nice view albeit with some power lines and back to the parking lot.

The parking lot gets full on weekends so if that happens there is plenty of parking on the street but you have to park on the other side from the lot and no parking on side streets.

Bring water, food, rain gear, and poles if you want. There are bathrooms at the visitor center and there is a porta-potty in the parking lot. If you need to contact me my cell is 609-471-4119.
