Perfect Saturday so we will leave early and climb in 1 day. We will still have to camp in Yumoto/Nikko Saturday night I think.
Sunday AM weather is ok - just cloudy but it could change. Best to climb Saturday and get down as far as possible or stay in the free lodge. It will be an 8- 9 hour hike probably.
This is quite a famous winter climb. To the free lodge below the peak is very very easy. Only the short climb to the peak requires axe for safety. Great views even without climbing to the top. We will do a loop hike so the route up and down will be different.
Stay in free lodge or camp outside. Up to the top without bags and return.
Event Grade (イベント等級)
Most are fitness 3 (long Saturday hike) technical 2 (but you need to know how to stop a slide on snow/ice with axe)
Things to Bring (持参するもの)
You will need winter gear (gloves hat, thermals. fleece etc for -10C), front point crampons, walking axe. Probably small Japanese snowshoes - wakan.
Sleeping bag for -10C and good mat. Need to be prepared to sleep out if needed - plastic sheet or tent. Hopefully in free lodge (earplugs needed)
Need to carry food, water, stove.

Saturday Tobu train line to Nikko from Asakusa 0620 or Kita-senju.
Kitasenju 0630 train.
Bus to Yumoto Onsen from Nikko 0843 - 1005. Free bus pass 400en cheaper.
Start hike immediately ... hope to get to peak between 4-5pm. Leave bags on trail and climb last hour without bags. Stay at free lodge or on trail down -camp in snow.
Dont think we can get last bus back Saturday.

When people sign up for snow/winter trips I need to know they are reliable. Last week we also had a car so seats are limited and we need to know people will go.
I do not want to be checking people about gear late Friday night before events. Or trying to contact people who do not reply after signing up.
