📢⛺️Multi Adventure Campout! Photo hikes, Outdoor skills training & Kayaking📷🚣‍♀️🥾
Join us for a multi-day adventure opportunity at Potts Preserve along the Withlacoochee River for primitive camping in Inverness FL.
We have a group reservation for about 15 folks interested in joining us for two or all three days of camping.
Folks attending will get a gate code to enter the preserve and set up camp any time after 10:30am on Saturday May 18th.

Saturday activities will include an afternoon nature hike with pro photographers JR Sykes and Kathy Porupski. This will be a slower paced walk to enjoy and take in the beauty of nature and look for wildlife. Jim and Kathy will be sharing quite a few tips on capturing and composing beautiful scenes in Mother Nature along the way for those interested. Feel free to bring any camera you might have which includes your cell phone. As it's often the only camera I carry along with me.

Sunday's focus will be learning some basic outdoor skills from JR.
There will be some hands-on time learning the most basic, easy, and useful camping knots and rope skills as well as getting to actually practice various fire starting and fire building techniques, using assorted camping implements.
Sunday will also include for those who bring along some type of boating option such as kayak, canoe etc. a paddle to Gum Slough. Its entrance is a few hundred yards from where we will be camping and its crystal clear and cool spring-fed waters are not to be missed! Don't forget swimsuits as it's the perfect place to escape the heat and cool off. Your PFD and whistle for your float!

**You are responsible to bring all your own food, drinks, snacks, hiking, and camping supplies. Recommendations: Daypack, Tent or camping hammock, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, folding camp chair, headlamp or flashlight, fixed blade and/or folding pocket knife (I highly recommend the current version of the Victorinox Huntsman Swiss Army Knife), rain gear, change of clothes, trekking poles, day pack, insect repellant the mosquitos and ticks can be heavy this time of year.
This is a car-camping outing, not a backpacking event. Your vehicle will be parked fairly close and adjacent to the camping area so there is no need to be conservative with respect to the amount of gear you wish to bring with you to be comfortable. We will have a few wagons for folks to use if needed to get your gear to your camp. Please consider bringing firewood for the group campfire.

NOTE: We have the group reservation through Monday for those who can stay the extra day to enjoy this beautiful area along the river. The town of Inverness with restaurants and grocery stores is about 20 minutes away from camp for anyone who might need or forgot something. Here's a link with a video about the area for those who have not been to Potts Preserve. https://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/media/3801
