Urban Hike - Lake Nokomis, Minnehaha Creek with socializing at Venn Brewing

Let’s meet for a moderate + paced hike (approx 15:30 - 16:00+ minute mile) with the path starting at Lake Nokomis, then veering off to do some of Minnehaha Creek & on some city streets, parks & back to the lake. We will meet outside the Lake Nokomis Community Center (2401 Minnehaha Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55417) at 6:00 and leave no later than 6:10. We will walk about 6 miles. If you are not sure how fast 16:00 minute miles are, there are a lot of good trackers for speed available on your smart phone (and are fee apps). The leaders use Map My Run by Under Armor to track time & distance. After the hike we can meet the biking group for socializing at Venn Brewing. Dogs are welcome at Painted Turtle.

Things to remember for summer hiking:
1. Dress in layers if it is a cooler day. You will get warm.
2. Suggested to bring a dry shirt for socializing afterwards. It feels much better.
3. Decent shoes. Tennis shoes or hiking boots. No sandals.
4. Bring water, sunscreen & bug spray as desired. Deer flies are definitely out, so bug spray will help.

Dogs are welcome on this hike. Per city rules, they must be on a leash.
Please note: If you fall behind and don’t keep up with the group, the hike leader cannot wait for you, or go back looking for you as everyone else is relying on the leader to keep the hike moving. Having All Trails as a free app for your phone is a good idea.

Please keep your RSVP updated. It is difficult to know if we should wait for someone if the RSVP is not kept current. If you are running late, place a comment in the event so we know if we should wait. Attendance may be limited at future events if you are a no show.
