Kick off 2026 with a hike at Old Cedar Ave Bridge! The route is yet TBD but will be fun with various sites & wildlife! This hike is 5 miles long with a pace of 17:30-18 minute miles - depending upon the terrain. This pace is considered moderate as I recover from my knee surgery. No one will be left behind.

We'll meet in the parking lot by the trailhead sign at Cedar Nicols Trailhead. NOTE: this is not the Bloomington location trailhead. Use the pin with this event. If you don't have a smart phone, or the app on your phone, look up the address for Cedar Nichols trailhead. As with any place that you may park, please do not leave valuables in your car. We have never incurred an incident at this location, however, we have heard of incidents and it seems to be on the rise. Don't give a thief a reason to break into your vehicle.

After the hike we can go somewhere close for socializing. (I need to verify what is truly going to be open.)

Hiking Tips:
1. dress for the weather. You will get warm, so layers work well. Even if you get warm, be smart and don't dress for fashion.
2. Decent shoes. Hiking boots work well. Snow boots or fashion boots will not work well for this trail.
3. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
4. Bring a dry shirt for socializing afterwards. It feels better & helps to prevent chills
5. Grippers will be necessary with the melting, refreezing & drizzle that we have had. If you need grippers, Kahtoola is the best brand. They are a higher price , but they last several seasons & will not fall off your shoes.

Please keep your RSVP up to date. If you aren't able to make it, or something comes up on the way to the hike, please post a comment. It is hard to wait in the cold for someone that may not be coming.

By signing up for this event, you agree to take personal responsibility for any incidents/accidents that may happen. It is nature and there are roots/rocks on the trail and falls can happen.

See you on the trail!
