A Bay Springs kayak and island campout adventure at Piney Grove Recreation Area on Bay Springs Lake!
There is a preparation dinner on March 12, 2026 at Jason's Deli at Poplar and Ridgeway in Memphis. We will discuss gear, food, and preparedness for primitive water access camping. This is a kayak campout is on the island accessible only by water. This is a preparation trip for the longer kayak camp trip on the AR Buffalo in May.
We will kayak on the lake Saturday for conditioning and recreation!
Bring all your camping gear, good and water. You will need to be self contained for primitive camping. Bring your kayak, fishing poles, hammock or a great book. This will be a relaxing adventure to recharge and restore on water and land.
We will kayak from the campground boat launch to the campsite island about 1/2 mile paddle. We will campfire, potluck and make smores Friday and Saturday night. Bring your own main dish and a side to share.

These are primitive sites only accessible by water and are first come first serve so no reservations necessary.
What to bring: you will need to bring a tent, your own food, kayak, lifejacket, snacks, beverages and comfort items. There is NO bathhouse so come prepared with toiletries, TP and a small shovel.
