Bowman's Island, Easy 4 Miles + Laurel Ridge (adjacent), Mod 4 Miles, Buford Dam
Details
Weather permitting, if you're feelin ambitious, and have the time, meet me at Bowman's Island for two hikes (2nd is optional): ~4 miles at Bowman's Island (rated easy); then, if needed, a brief break before crossing the bridge to Laurel Ridge for an add'l ~4 miles (rated moderate).
Pace: ~2-2.5 mph, not a sprint, not a stroll so, if you're looking for a fast-paced workout, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. Trekking poles welcome.
Meet at Bowman's Island Trailhead parking lot (small gravel lot). To reach the trailhead, turn onto Lower Pool Road (West Park), which is off Buford Dam Rd (3650 Buford Dam Rd), watch for a very large electrical sub-station near turn, street sign is not very conspicuous. The trailhead is in the 1st small gravel parking lot on the right, beyond the unmanned pay booth ($8). If you go too far, you'll run into a separate boat launch area/parking lot, where the restrooms and bridge are.
Allow ~2hrs for the first hike & up to 3hrs for the 2nd hike. Rough guesstimate, some flexibility needed.
The 2nd OPTIONAL hike at Laurel Ridge is NOT an easy beginner hike, so keyword: OPTIONAL, you have the option not to continue beyond the first easy ~4 miles at Bowmans Island. Pictures do not do this area around Lake Lanier justice.
Please leave your furry 4-legged loved ones behind.
