Update August 16th. Rentals are fully subscribed. We do have room for more own folks. Hopefully you all have reserved with Mary Jo at Sandy Feet Mobile Kayak Company at 727-200-3142 and have gotten a confirmation.
Everybody must call or text Mary Jo @ (727) 200-3142 to reserve your spot and a kayak if needed...You are not guaranteed a kayak unless you’ve contacted her..
Join us on this adventure out to Fort DeSoto's Shell Key . We will be kayaking a little over 4 miles - so this is a moderate paddle. We are going to stop on the island to swim and watch the sunset and will be returning well after dark. There are 2 tolls to get to Fort Desoto area one is $1.00 the other is .75cents..
Let's please be in the water at scheduled time so please be there 15 minutes early. No restrooms at launch or at beach we land at. . We double park so as to leave space for other groups.

A moderate paddle at 4 miles with some wind possible.. 4 miles is doable for someone experienced or with good upper body conditioning but may be impossible for someone not in the best of upper body 💪 shape.
🌴Bring plenty of water, sunblock, bug spray, water shoes, snacks, beach towel, and change of clothing if needed... There are NO restrooms at the kayak launch or on deserted island. Date and time may change due to weather. If you just rsvp here that does NOT get you in.
Everyone must text or call Mary Jo to reserve a Kayak even if you are bringing your own kayak (727) 200-3142 you are not guaranteed a spot or a kayak unless you have spoke to Mary jo. Sandy Feet Mobile Kayak Company trailers in boats for PAID and CONFIRMED reservations, there is no company onsite.
- $10 members bringing their own equipment! (covers guide fee)
- $30 includes (single kayak, paddle, pfd, and guide fee)
- $50 includes (tandem (double) kayak, paddle, pfd, and guide fee)
Cancellations: Call/text Mary Jo to join, cancel PLEASE NOTE Call/text Mary Jo to join, cancel (727) 200-3142 Cancel more than 48 hrs before event= full refund Cancel within 48 and 12 hours hrs before event credit towards your next RSVP Cancel day of= no refunds or credit Those that haven't paid within 24hrs of RSVP for event will be added to the not going list to free up a kayak for someone else that wants to go.. We do not monitor the RSVP list on meetup, if Mary Jo was not contacted you are not on the going list, regardless if you RSVP'd on meetup.

We have room for extra OWN folks but rentals fill very fast. Rental trailer size and truck that they can bring is limited. There are no onsite rentals.
As soon as you go through the second toll take your Immediate right we will launch from there.. don’t go over the bridge after the 2nd toll you went too far ..There are no restrooms at the launch or on island...
