🥾 Description
We’ll start in the charming town centre of Windsor, home to the magnificent Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.
Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 40 monarchs.
From Windsor town we will be heading into the vast and beautiful Windsor Great Park.
Our route takes us to the peaceful shores of Virginia Water, through the colourful Valley Gardens, and past unique landmarks including the Totem Pole and historic Obelisk.
As we continue, keep an eye out for deer roaming freely in the park before reaching the highlight of the day — the Copper Horse statue, where you’ll get stunning views over the famous Long Walk stretching all the way to Windsor Castle.
We should have some time to wander around this lovely town and walk through some of its oldest streets and their many inns, pubs, cafes and restaurants are all suitable for a tea stop and enjoy a drink before we head back to London.
🌸 Seasonal highlight
This is one of the best times to visit Windsor Great Park, with azaleas in full bloom and rhododendrons beginning to flower across the Valley Gardens adding vibrant colours to an already stunning landscape.
