🥾 Description
We begin our walk beside the Great Stour River and its surrounding lakes, then head through the church and village green at Chartham. From there, the route continues across classic Kentish landscapes of hop fields and apple orchards towards Chartham Hatch.
Leaving the village, we walk on through Church Wood and the ancient Blean Woods Nature Reserve before reaching the parklands of the University of Kent, where we are rewarded with superb views across the city to Canterbury Cathedral.
We then descend into Canterbury itself, following the River Stour through the historic Norman Westgate and along medieval streets and winding alleys. Our arrival into the cathedral precinct is via the ornate Christ Church Gate, leading us into the heart of Canterbury Cathedral.
There will be time to explore and enjoy this remarkable city before we make our return journey to London by train.
