Brooklyn, NY
How to Find Us
Meet in front of Peter Pan Bakery (delicious donuts, restroom available), 727 Manhattan Avenue, one-half block north of the Nassau Avenue G train station. If you'd like to sample the goods, please arrive at 10:45 AM because the bakery is likely to be busy. We'll also stop for lunch around 1:00 PM (best to bring your own).

Details: Limited to 25 walkers.

Greenpoint's historic district, little known to outsiders, features lovely streets with varied architectural styles. We'll explore that aspect of the neighborhood while also visiting an arts center showing a Yoko Ono installation. The tour additionally includes a nature walk along Newtown Creek, a heavily polluted body of water that's beginning to be restored, as well as a visit to a nearby Kingsland Wildflowers situated on a "green roof" with stunning views of Manhattan. A donation of $5 is suggested but not required for this visit and talk by one of the staff members. The facility is not open on Saturday, which is why the walk will take place on Friday.
