THE PLAN: Let’s celebrate Labor Day with our fourth float of 2022 on the Elk River. Less than 3 hours from KC, we will stay and float with Shady Beach Floats in Pineville, MO shadybeachfloats.com. ARRIVE Saturday for lovely dinner time with fun people and a swim. Sunday we float. DEPART on Monday OR…some may choose a second day of floating, or other adventures.
THE FLOAT: Pineville to Noel (8 miles, about 6 to 8 hours) Their most popular float with many gravel bars and swimming holes. Nice, easy float with time to relax and enjoy a day on the Elk River and still be back in time for dinner. Kayaks, canoes, and raft are available to rent. OPTION to float one or both days. THE STAY: Shady Beach has two sites, one in Pineville (Shady Beach Floats) which is the put-in at the Hwy 71 Bridge. Their location in Noel is Shady Beach Camping, which is their take-out at the Mt Shira Access. Both have options for camping and cabins. Shady Beach Camping (Noel) has RV spaces available. The Pineville site (Shady Beach Floats) has one BIG cabin—that is our base/gathering place for social and campfire time.
OTHER ACTIVITIES in the area: hiking at Big Sugar Creek State Park, Bluff Dwellers Cave tours, Tall Pines Moonshine Distillery, and staring at goats at The Cave Bar & Grill.
