Join us for some nature connection today as we learn to identify New Zealand Native Trees and some plants and ferns and birds today typically seen in the Waitakere Ranges and other places when we are out hiking.
Using my favourite author Andrew Crowe's unique leaf key to identify trees, by the shape of the leaves, and other things we'll learn today, you'll be able to quickly help yourself tell the difference between a Kauri Tree and a Rimu Tree...or identify a Pohutukawa Tree...and others using the things we see along the ground ...like leaves, seeds and fruits..
WHEN- Saturday March 7th. 2026.
Meet and Greet is 2pm with a finish at 5pm..
WHERE MEETING- Arataki Information Centre Carpark
300 Scenic Drive.
10 minutes drive from Titirangi Township.
No Dogs or Children today please.
We'll use some handouts and a few Tree Books .
I have been bringing people together for outdoor adventures and shared hiking for many years. I have been learning something about Tree Identification over the years..However I’m not a Botanical Expert.
Bring along everything you need to keep yourself happy . Carry water and warm layers suitable for stopping to identify trees here today.
