What we’re about
Speaking is a big part of your daily life. Why not learn to do it well?
Whether you’re interested in career advancement, want to learn to better organize your thoughts and speak on your feet, or simply want to tell better stories, our Meetup is the place for you.
We’re Outermost Toast, a chapter of Toastmasters International. We are an eclectic group of people who gather twice a month to learn and practice the art and science of public speaking. Although we follow the time-tested Toastmasters curriculum, we are incredibly laid-back - we may concentrate on sharpening speaking skills but we're just as focused on everyone having fun.
Fun, laughter, and support – those are three components that color everything we do. In fact, you will never encounter a more supportive environment, which makes us the perfect place to tackle your fear of public speaking.
What to expect at our meetings:
> 1 or 2 people usually present prepared speeches, which are then evaluated with the utmost care and support. The purpose of the evaluations is to help the speaker and the
audience learn and grow.
> A portion of every meeting consists of people volunteering to give 1-to-2-minute impromptu answers to questions. This exercise helps us learn to speak on our toes. You are
welcome to answer an impromptu question, too (but only if you want to).
> We also have a “Word Of The Day” that all speakers are encouraged to use throughout the meeting. This is always a fun way to encourage creativity.
> A low-key, upbeat environment with copious amounts of laughter and encouragement are hallmarks of our meetings.
> We offer snacks and a chance to socialize at the end of every meeting. After all, who doesn’t love food?
All that’s missing is you!
Please join us on the first and third Monday of every month.
