Join us for an advanced winter hike as we summit Blackhead Mountain, one of the Catskills’ most demanding and rewarding peaks. This is not your typical trail day. Expect steep ascents, icy scrambles, and sustained elevation that will challenge your endurance and fuel your sense of accomplishment.
At over 3,900 feet, Blackhead rewards every step with sweeping views of snow-covered ridgelines and the quiet stillness of winter in the high peaks. It’s a true test of grit, focus, and mountain spirit, and the payoff is pure magic.
We’ll kick off the day early at The Standard Biergarten in Meatpacking before heading north for our ascent, then wrap it up with a well-earned celebration and good company before heading back to the city.

Meeting time: 8:00 AM at The Standard Biergarten Departure: 8:30 AM from NYC Arrival: ~10:30 AM at trailhead Hike duration: 10:45 AM – 3:30 PM (approx. 7+ miles, challenging terrain) Depart back to NYC: Approx. 5:30 PM

### Difficulty & Requirements

This is an advanced winter hike suitable only for experienced hikers with strong fitness levels and prior experience on strenuous, icy, or steep trails. Participants must be comfortable with sustained elevation gain, cold-weather conditions, and technical footing.

• Waterproof hiking boots with strong traction (essential)
• Layered clothing: moisture-wicking base, insulated mid, and waterproof outer shell
