    Bear Mountain

    Join us for a scenic hike at Bear Mountain, one of the most iconic outdoor destinations near New York City! This challenging adventure takes us through forested trails and rocky paths, leading to breathtaking views of the Hudson River and surrounding Highlands. We may pass sections of the historic Appalachian Trail and reach overlooks near Perkins Memorial Tower. It’s the perfect way to enjoy fresh air, nature, and great company. Let’s explore together!

    Take on the challenge of this challenging hiking trail in New York’s Hudson Valley, known for its steep ascents and rugged, rocky terrain. While demanding, the journey is well worth it, as you’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the Hudson River and surrounding landscapes. Perfect for experienced hikers seeking a physical challenge paired with breathtaking scenery, this trail is a must for your next outdoor adventure. We will have a snack break on the trail.

    We’ll wrap up our adventure at a cozy local pizzeria, where we can relax, enjoy some food and drinks, and spend time chatting and connecting with fellow adventurers.

This is a moderate to hard hike, ideal for those seeking a rewarding experience. Along the way, you’ll meet like-minded adventurers who share a passion for the outdoors—new friends, fresh air, and unforgettable memories await!

    Don’t miss out on this exciting journey!

    This is a Continuous Pace Hike: We’ll take breaks along the way, but not as often as on other hikes, since we need to maintain a steady pace to catch the train. Please note that transportation for this hike is limited, with departures only every two and a half hours.

    • Small Group Experience: Limited to 15 participants.
    • Hike Route: AllTrail Map
    • Difficulty: Challenging + Continuous Pace. This hike is suitable for hikers who can maintain at least a moderate to brisk pace.
    • Hiker Skills: Experienced hiker. Good endurance and stamina; comfortable with steep climbs, uneven terrain, and longer distances.
    • Elevation Gain: 1,207 ft (368 mt)
    • Highest Elevation: 1,025 ft (312 mt)
    • Lowest Elevation: 453 ft (138 mt)
    • Distance: 5.53 mi (6.7 km) - The 0.6-mile (1 km) walk from the train station to the trailhead is not included.
    • Hiking Time: 3h 30m. We need to complete the hike within this window so we can catch the 4:20 PM train, which departs every two and a half hours.
