What we’re about
Are you learning French but struggle to open your mouth when it’s time to actually speak? This group is for you.
After my wife and I took a recent trip to France, I realized how much I was holding back out of fear of making mistakes — even when I knew the words. That experience inspired me to create this group: a safe, low-pressure space where people like me (and maybe like you) can finally get the words out of our heads and into the air. I am starting a small (3-5 members), supportive group of low-intermediate (or shy beginner) learners who’ve been trying to speak French for a while but keep running into the same roadblocks: self-doubt, fear of messing up, or just plain old awkwardness.
Here’s what we will be:
A weekly, in-person meetup to practice speaking aloud in a safe, judgment-free space
Focused on building real confidence through repetition, roleplay, etc.
Inspired by the “ouvre la bouche” mindset — get it out of your head and out of your mouth!
Here’s what we are not:
A place for fluent speakers
A grammar bootcamp
A vibe killer
We’re not here to impress anyone. We’re here to say something in French — however imperfect — and to keep going.
If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, bienvenue.
I have plans to meet at a public institution in Rancho Bernardo, which I will share with you via email. Other than that, I have no defined structure. We'll just keep it simple.
