What we’re about
The "Over 40's" is a guideline, and by no means set in stone. Whatever the age though, we are always a really friendly bunch and nobody ever finds it difficult to fall straight in with the group at their first meeting.
We do a lot of green walks, and there are some quiz nights, bowling events, pub nights etc dotted into the mix when I get time.
Our events are mainly based around the Essex/East London area, but we do venture further afield on occasion. For instance, the odd day trip to Southend has been a favourite for a couple of years now.
I hope to see you at the next event.

See all- Enfield Circular Green Walk + Pub - Turkey St Station to Whitewebbs Country ParkTurkey Street Station, Enfield
We haven't done this one for two years, so we're meeting at Turkey St station (11am) for a circular walk through the beautiful Myddelton House/Gardens, and then on to Whitewebbs Country Park/Forest. Your free travel passes do cover you to Turkey St, despite being outside zone 6.
I have planned Myddelton House as a part of this walk a couple of times between 2020 & 2022, but COVID & the COVID aftermath clobbered both of those visits.
https://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/myddelton-house-gardensWe'll be stopping halfway at the lovely Elizabethan building/gardens that is also a Toby Carvery (pictured above), followed by a different route back to the start point. The pub is actually situated inside the country park.
We'll have a drink and optional lunch either in the pub or in the Toby's gigantic gardens, which blend into the park. This setting also allows anyone preferring to bring their own lunch to do so.
The lovely Forty Hall gardens is on our return route, so its a stunning two additional attractions on this one.
https://www.fortyhallestate.co.uk/plan-your-visitI ask for a nominal contribution of £2 to help cover Meetup organiser fees. I structure this so that nobody pays more that once a calendar month. No shrapnel please.
If you are driving, its a short hop from the M25 (junction 25, A10), or you can access it on the A10 from the opposite direction. There is easy parking in many side roads by the station, especially on a Saturday.
Let's meet on the green facing the exit at Turkey St Station. If you are travelling by train, its a London Overground Cheshunt train from Liverpool St. Please get the 10.15am train at latest, as they are only every half-hour, and so the next one will be too late.
You can also join this train at Hackney Downs (10.24am). You can go from Stratford to Hackney Central on the London Overground and through the internal walkway to Hackney Downs, which is also on the Chingford London Overground line for those coming from that neck of the woods.
There is no Central Line between Woodford & Epping today, so those coming from beyond Woodford need to either park at Woodford Station or get the replacement bus
Buses 121 & 279 serve Turkey St, if that helps anyone.
If you are late and miss us, you could take a brisk walk to Myddelton Gardens and catch up. Any local person should be able to direct you, its a fairly straight walk.
