Cheshunt to Nazeing Mead Lagoons & Hoddesdon - Green Walk + (optional) Pub

Details

Can you believe it's been 15 months since we last did this one.

We're meeting outside Cheshunt Station at 11am, and leaving fairly promptly. The walk goes over to Hoddesdon, where we will finish at the (optional) Wetherspoon. For those not coming to the pub, I will guide you on bus or train options for a hop back to Cheshunt, or straight on to home.

Have a contactless card or your freedom pass with you to hop on a bus back to Cheshunt. Some may wish to take a train if they are going further down the line towards home.

If you're coming to the start point by train, there are a few ways to go. Simplest is Liverpool Street to Cheshunt on London Overground (Weaver Line), which is covered on your over 60's oyster/freedom pass as its TFL, despite being beyond zone 6.

Cheshunt trains are every half hour, so you will need the 10.15am train at latest.

You can get there from Stratford too. Go on the London Overground (Weaver Line) to Hackney Central, over the internal bridge to Hackney Downs, and change onto the Cheshunt train coming from Liverpool St. It arrives at Hackney Downs nine minutes after leaving Liverpool St.

You can also get directly to Hackney Downs on the London Overground (Weaver Line) from Highams Park, Chingford, Walthamstow, etc, and change straight onto the Cheshunt train. Or the 313 bus may be worth investigating from Chingford Station too, as you can go on an 18 minute ride to Southbury Station and then its just a few to Cheshunt from there.

Again, all London Overground journeys are covered on your over 60's oyster/freedom pass.

If you are driving, there are several side-roads off Windmill Lane, just before the station, where the yellow lines don't apply on a Saturday. Please read the yellow lamp-post plaques. EN8 8UE would be a good example of a postcode for your navigators, but you will find spots in many places.

I ask for a nominal contribution of £2 to help cover Meetup organiser fees. Or £4 will cover you for the whole of July. No shrapnel please.
