Short Notice Matakana Ride
Details
Matakana Ride
Some of us feel like a quick run in the country. This is a repeat of the Christmas Ride with the start at the Omaha Cafe, followed by a ride around Point Wells and then over over the hill to Matakana and have lunch at the Matakana Market Kitchen. Can be indoor or outdoor on the deck.
After lunch we will go back to the Omaha Café after which riders can go for a swim, follow me along the coast for a meander to the end of the beach or simply go home to sleep it off. Or do all three. Bring your swimming gear.
For those who are unfamiliar with this ride then it is a combination of cycleway, single track and gravel road. 90% of it is flat but there is a largish hill in the middle to get your blood or motor going. You need to keep your distance on this one otherwise we have the risk of a bike jam half way up or down a hill. None of it is particularly difficult on a good mountain bike but you need to be aware that this is not your typical urban ride on concrete that we usually do and will be challenging to some.
Ride is about 24ks but with the offroad stuff will feel a bit longer.
So if you would like come for a ride in the sun come along. As is normal:
- Please bring a spare tube for your particular bike wheel size.
- We travel at circa 20ks an hour except for down hills.
- We have a tail end Charlie to make sure riders do not get lost.
- We are not too fond of leaving people behind.
- Assistance will be rendered for any mechanical issues but we are not bike mechanics.
- If you are signed up for the ride but change your mind at the last minute please text or phone me on 021 348 979 to advise.?
