The novel follows several dissatisfied 1960s housewives as they navigate one of the most consequential and freeing years of their lives. By all accounts, the women appear to have it all. The introduction of an eccentric new neighbor from Manhattan compels them to form a bookclub. Their sisterhood helps them amid the turmoil of a rapidly changing world and alter the course of each of their lives.

A few of us will read the Feminine Mystique as a companion to this book.
