APIs power modern applications and they’re also one of the most targeted attack surfaces today. 🔐🚀

OWASP Buea is excited to collaborate with GDG On Campus University of Buea and Faculty of Engineering and Technology Cyber Guardians Club for a hands-on Introduction to API Security Workshop, designed to help developers and security enthusiasts build strong foundations in API security.

This beginner-focused session goes beyond theory. You’ll explore real-world API vulnerabilities and see how common security flaws impact modern systems then put that knowledge into practice.

🔥 What to Expect:

  • OWASP API Security Top 10 Overview: Learn the most critical API risks and why they matter in real-world applications.
  • Live API Vulnerability Exploration: Deep dives into issues like Broken Object Property Level Authorization (BOPLA), Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF), and unsafe consumption of APIs.
  • Hands-on Lab: Actively test the APIs of a deliberately vulnerable banking application to understand how attackers think and how to defend against them.
  • Community & Networking: Connect with developers, students, and security practitioners passionate about application security.

Whether you’re new to cybersecurity, a backend developer working with REST APIs, or simply curious about how APIs get breached, this workshop is built for you.

👉 All skill levels welcome especially beginners eager to learn by doing.
