When 600 apartment buildings in Ukraine lost heating during a harsh winter, the culprit wasn’t missiles – it was malware.

FrostyGoop, a lesser-known but exploited OT threat, was designed to disrupt industrial control systems using ModbusTCP.

This time we're so lucky to have Claudiu Chelaru and Klaus Agnoletti with us!

Claudiu Chelaru is a security consultant at Mnemonic - focusing on attack detection capabilities and purple teaming within ICS/OT. He has a pentester background, and has worked extensively across transportation, manufacturing and energy sectors.

Klaus Agnoletti has been an all-round infosec professional since 2004. He co-founded BSides København in 2019. Recently he started out as an infosec freelancer focusing on storytelling in marketing, employer branding, game-based learning or wherever new ideas bring him.

He'll talk about Malware & Monsters - an innovative security training platform that combines collaborative storytelling with creature-collection mechanics to create engaging, practical incident response training.

Equipment & Prep Instructions for Workshop

  • Bring a d20 if you have one. If not, Klaus we'll have extras available, or you can use a dice-rolling app on your phone. You’ll need it for gameplay!
  • Bring a phone or laptop. A phone is sufficient for players, but a laptop is highly recommended for anyone planning to be an Incident Master (IM), as it makes running the game much easier.
